Baseline

English initial release; all user-facing strings externalized from code.

Requirements

  • stable string keys;
  • plurals and formatted values;
  • locale-aware date/time/number/currency;
  • no string concatenation that breaks grammar;
  • layouts tolerate expansion;
  • search synonyms separate from UI translation;
  • server messages use codes plus localized client/template content;
  • policy/consent versions tied to language.

Translation governance

Trust, legal, safety, payment and complaint text requires professional review. Machine translation may assist drafts but is not published unreviewed.

Zambia language research

Phase 1 identifies priority language support and whether full UI, key trust explanations or support content should be localized first.

Testing

Pseudo-localization, long text, right-to-left preparedness where future expansion requires, font availability and TalkBack pronunciation.
